West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford is closing in on a new contract with the Hammers and rejected reported interest from Manchester United, according to The Sun.

The teenage sensation is one of the brightest prospects in the English game and starred in a number of cameo appearances for the Hammers last season.

Despite being part of Slaven Bilic’s first-team squad, Oxford has delayed on a new contract this summer and speculation has been rife that he could force an exit from the east London outfit.

The latest report suggests that despite both Manchester United and City being interested in the versatile defender, negotiations have been fruitful with West Ham and a breakthrough has been reached after a number of months.

Should Oxford extend his stay with the Hammers it would be a major boost for the London club and ensure that one of their brightest young players can develop with the team.
