West Ham United supremo David Gold has stated that he thinks the London club can be playing in the Champions League within in the next five years.

The Hammers had a progressive campaign under Slaven Bilic last season and were in the running for a top-four finish up until the final weeks of the season.

With an extensive summer in the transfer market resulting in the acquisition of an array of new stars, hopes are high that this season can be a success for the London club.

However, things have not quite gone to plan as yet in 2016-17, with Europa League elimination being compounded by just three points from the side’s opening four Premier League games.

Despite this, Gold is remaining positive and feels that a place in the Champions League is achievable in the near future.

The West Ham chairman responded to a fan’s question on Twitter and feels that the London club will be playing in Europe’s top tournament within half a decade.
