West Ham United want to take highly rated Real Madrid teenager Martin Odegaard on loan for the 2016-17 campaign, according to a report in The Sun.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is said to have a bright future in the game and has moved to the Spanish capital from his native Norway.

Although first-team football is yet to be forthcoming for the Scandinavian at the Santiago Bernabeu, the gifted playmaker has impressed in Los Blancos’ youth and reserve ranks.

It is being suggested that Odegaard may well be farmed out on loan this season to give him some experience of first-team football and West Ham are believed to be one of the interested parties.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Clarets need the youngster, with Slaven Bilic having the likes of Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini, Sofiane Feghouli, Gokhan Tore and Andre Ayew as attacking midfield options.
