West Ham United and West Brom are believed to be in a tug-of-war to land young Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan this summer, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The teenage star broke through into the Old Trafford first-team reckoning last term under Louis van Gaal and impressed despite his inexperience and young age.

However, with Luke Shaw returning to fitness and starting yesterday against Bournemouth, it remains to be seen just how much football Borthwick-Jackson will receive this season under Jose Mourinho.

West Ham were desperate for left-back recruits after a pre-season injury to Aaron Cresswell but have bolstered their contingent with the signing of Arthur Masuaku.

However, the latest report suggests that Slaven Bilic’s men are still interested in Borthwick-Jackson but face competition to land him on loan from West Brom.

The Baggies started Jonny Evans out of position at left-back in their Premier League opener at Crystal Palace and as such could look to bolster Tony Pulis’ options at full-back.
