West Ham United are ready to offload fringe midfielder Pedro Obiang before the transfer window closes, with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming that Fiorentina are close to wrapping up a deal for him.

The Spanish box-to-box star joined the east London side last summer but was largely a substitute for Slaven Bilic’s men as Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate ruled the roost in the boiler room.

With the versatile Havard Nordveit bolstering the Hammers’ options in central midfield, Obiang is facing the prospect of a campaign on the sidelines if he stays with West Ham.

The former Sampdoria star is well-regarded in the Italian game and the Viola are believed to want to sign him before the end of August.

It remains to be seen if Bilic and the club would look for a replacement for Obiang should he be sold or trust the young players coming through the ranks to fill any voids.
