West Ham United are ready to add young Swiss star Edimilson Fernandes to their midfield ranks, with The Daily Mail claiming that the 20-year-old’s transfer to the London Stadium has all but been confirmed.

The Hammers rely on Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate in the heart of their side, but Slaven Bilic has also added Havard Nordtveit to his contingent this summer.

A deal to land Fernandes is believed to be in place, with the FC Sion starlet undergoing a medical in the English capital.

He will offer an additional option for the Hammers in the boiler room and make up for Alex Song’s loan stint with the club coming to an end earlier this summer.

The report suggests that Fernandes was previously coveted by Liverpool and French side Bordeaux, and that West Ham will pay £5.5m for his services.

The Switzerland under-21 international can also play on the right of midfield if needed and is the cousin of former Manchester City player Gelson Fernandes.
