German newspaper Bild has reported that West Ham have failed in an attempt to sign progressive Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac this summer.

The Hammers have been busy in the transfer market over recent months and a new left-back was propelled as a priority by Aaron Cresswell’s cruciate ligament injury.

Slaven Bilic has added Arthur Masuaku to his squad this summer to fill in for the injured defender but it is believed that the east London side have been scouring Europe for players in the position.

Kolasinac is a Bosnia international that has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, who has built up a venerable reputation in German football for his ability to bomb forward from full-back.

However, despite interest from West Ham and Roma this summer, the report suggests that the defender has opted to stay with Schalke and continue in the Bundesliga in 2016-17.
