West Ham United have paid Deportivo Maldonado £4 million to take Jonathan Calleri on loan for the 2016-17 season, The Guardian report.

The Argentina international is currently representing his country at the Olympic Games in Brazil and it has been confirmed that he will move to east London after his involvement in the sporting spectacle is over.

Calleri’s addition will bring a long summer of transfer inquiries to a close, with the London Stadium outfit active in the transfer market over the last couple of months.

The South American has impressed for former club Boca Juniors and while on loan to Sao Paulo, scoring goals at will and catching the eye with some scintillating individual performances.

Calleri may well be the last addition to Bilic’s squad this summer, with the Croatian manager hinting that he will not sign another striker given the options already available to him.

It remains to be seen whether there is the option to make the Argentine’s move to West Ham permanent next summer.
