Norwich City defender Martin Olsson’s agent has confirmed that the Sweden international wants to leave Carrow Road, amid interest from West Ham United.

The Hammers are widely reported to have had an offer for the Scandinavian rejected by the second-tier club earlier this week.

Slaven Bilic is desperate to sign a new left-back to deputise for the injured Aaron Cresswell when the 2016-17 campaign begins next month and has his eye on Olsson.

The defender was part of the Canaries team that was relegated from the Premier League last season and it is clear that Olsson does not want to see out the remaining 12 months of his deal with Norwich.

“It is true that they [Norwich] received the multiple bids, both from other clubs abroad and also in the Premier League,” Hasan Cetinkaya told Fotbollskanalen.

“There are clubs who have put very [good] bids, especially considering that it’s only a year left on the contract. Norwich tries to stop the transfer, it is the fourth time now.

“We had an agreement on a sum – now Norwich want even more. It does not work quite so in football. Martin has been loyal to Norwich. It is not acceptable that they do [not sell].

“Martin is very clear that he does not want to play in the Championship and he wants to take the next step. He would particularly like to play in the Premier League, when he was so good in the Championship too. Martin is not a Championship player. But we do not give up. We are optimistic.”

West Ham have been linked with a host of left-backs since Cresswell’s injury, with talk of a loan switch for a new player also banded about in the press.

Olsson would be a sensible and solid addition, but the Hammers will not want to overpay for the defender this summer.
