West Ham United are ready to cut their losses on midfielder Pedro Obiang, with Sport Mediaset stating that Cagliari want to bring him back to Serie A.

The Spanish midfielder joined the Hammers last summer and arrived with a burgeoning reputation after some blockbusting performances for Sampdoria.

Obiang’s capture was seen as something of a coup but the 24-year-old has struggled for time on the pitch as Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate have been first choice in the boiler room for Slaven Bilic’s men.

The Spaniard started only 11 Premier League games in 2015-16 and is expected to be pushed further down the pecking order as new faces arrive at West Ham over the off-season.

The report suggests that Cagliari are ready to offer Obiang a way out of the London club and that the Hammers are willing to listen to offers for the star after a botched stint in English football.
