West Ham United vice chairman Karren Brady has confirmed that the Olympic Stadium will be ready for the club to host their first home Premier League game of 2016-17 against Bournemouth next month.

The Hammers said a sad goodbye to Upton Park last season, with a new era upon the club as a move to the bigger stadium heralds increased income and more supporters for the campaign ahead.

With work still to be completed on the London club’s new home, there were some concerns that it would not be ready for the opening home fixture against the Cherries.

Despite this, Brady has stated that everyone involved in the preparation deserved credit and that the first home game against Bournemouth would go ahead as planned.

“Construction projects of this magnitude are notorious for their delays, but we are on schedule, to the very day, to open in full football mode, for the Premier League curtain raiser against Bournemouth,” she told the club’s official website.

“That’s of enormous credit to everyone on the construction side, not least with the added complexity of Europa League football.”

The only setback for West Ham is that the giant television screens to be installed in the stadium will not be ready for the Bournemouth game but should be operational soon after.
