West Ham United are set to face competition should they opt to move for Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez, with Football Italia reporting that Inter Milan are ready to up their interest in the Germany international.
The Hammers are believed to have Carlos Bacca as their number one option in the transfer market this summer, but have been linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich attacker should their attempts to land the AC Milan forward fail.
Gomez spent last term on loan at Besiktas and topped the Super Lig scoring charts with 26 strikes in 2015-16, leading the Istanbul-based outfit to the domestic title in the process.
The poacher’s form saw him return to the international set-up for Euro 2016 but he is believed to be surplus to requirements at Fiorentina and does not want to return to Turkey due to an unstable political situation.
Inter are thought to be ready to reinforce their options in attack due to speculation over Mauro Icardi’s future, with the Milanese outfit ready to go head-to-head with the Hammers for Gomez this summer.
