West Ham United are keen to add to their midfield ranks this summer and have identified Nice star Nampalys Mendy as a possible summer addition, according to L’Equipe.
The 23-year-old is a product of the prestigious Monaco youth academy but has been on the Nice books for a number of years.
Mendy has played a key role in the Allianz Riviera outfit overachieving in recent times and has been compared in some circles to Leicester’s N’golo Kante.
A former France under-21 international, the defensive midfielder is full of running and tenacious in the tackle despite his slender frame.
West Ham have had success in the French market having signing Dimitri Payet from Marseille last summer and are being linked with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi currently.
Mendy started all 38 of Nice’s Ligue 1 games in 2015-16 and helped the club to an excellent fourth-placed finish – narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification.
