West Ham United fans’ favourite James Tomkins is being linked with a move away from the London club this summer, with The Mirror claiming that Crystal Palace and Sunderland are keen on the homegrown hero.

The versatile defender is a product of the Boleyn Ground youth academy and has spent his entire career with the club.

A centre-half by trade, Tomkins has filled in at right-back on occasion and continues to give his all for the Hammers.

With Slaven Bilic’s men moving to the Olympic Stadium and full of lofty ambitions for next season, a major squad upheaval is being touted in the summer.

The report suggests that Tomkins may well become surplus to requirements and West Ham may be willing to part company with the defender.

Sam Allardyce knows the 27-year-old well from his time in London, while local rivals Palace are also keen.

Tomkins started 23 games in the Premier League in 2015-16.
