An insider at West Ham United has told Claret and Hugh that there is no reason for Hammers’ fans to be worried about Reece Oxford’s future.

The teenage sensation made an impact in the first team in 2015-16 and is regarded as a critical player for the future of the London club.

However, Oxford’s contract has been a point of discussion in the press over the last couple of weeks, with Manchester City and United both said to be interested in the 17-year-old.

Media speculation that the versatile midfielder has turned down a contract extension with the Hammers has been doing the rounds, with West Ham keen to tie the starlet down to a new deal.

However, despite claims that Oxford will hold the club to ransom before penning a new deal, an insider at the Boleyn Ground has stated there is no reason for supporters to worry.

“There have been no inquiries from anywhere but the time of year always sees a certain train of events get underway and there’s always a legion of agents and middlemen ready to start rumours through the media,” they said.

“We are talking all the time and monitoring things and there is nothing to be concerned about.”
