RUMOUR MILL: Ins and Outs

|

Well it’s that time of year again for all football fans, the January sales, filled with excitement, enthusiasm and most importantly exaggeration – who might or might not join your club, who we have been linked with and who might or might not leave.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

For me as a West Ham fan I can say more often than not I have always been let down by our buys in the transfer windows. Maybe it is because I get carried away with paper talk or listening too much to other people, but in the summer I was pleased with our business so hopefully I will be in January too.

So who have we been linked with so far? Well there is Joe Cole, Andreas Cornelius, Darren Bent, Loic Remy, Salomon Kalou, Faouzi Ghoulam, Nicolas Anelka, Jason Puncheon, Rickie Lambert, Paul Robinson and Gary Hooper are to name just a few over the last week. It is easy to get slightly carried away, I am not saying all of these are not realistic targets but we have to be a bit more selective.

We do need a left back so the highly rated Faouzi Ghoulam would fit the bill perfectly but there has also been interest in him from Italy so we would have to move quickly.

I feel we need a goalkeeper although Jussi Jaaskelainen has put in some excellent performances of late, I just don’t think he is reliable, so a move for Paul Robinson would be welcomed but I would prefer it if we went for a younger keeper maybe someone like Jack Butland?

Most importantly what we need is an out and out goal scorer there are a few out there that I would go for such as Darren Bent; like him or hate him one thing we all know about Bent is that he knows how to score goals in the Premier League. There is Gary Hooper who scores for fun in the Scottish Premier and has done well in Europe with Celtic and Hooper is rumoured to be a West Ham fan – maybe worth a shot? There is also Charlie Austin who has set the Championship on fire with his fine form this season, I have always been a fan of Austin even during his time with Swindon Town, and he is just a natural goal scorer and has scored goals at every club he has been at but might come at a high cost now.

We’ll also need to add a little bit of depth to all areas of the team but this may be a chance for our youth players to step up. Rob Hall has been doing well at Birmingham City as well as Ravel Morrison so maybe if we could recall these players and see what they can do this could be like having two new players itself.

One more important thing we need to do is make sure we keep our key players such as Mohamed Diame, Winston Reid, Mark Noble, Kevin Nolan and James Tomkins. This is our back bone, these are the players we need to build our team round we have to stop being a selling club and keep hold. We have few fringe players that we could let go to free some cash for new arrivals, and we also have a lot of players that are coming back from injuries so I think the second half of the season could be a good one for us Hammers!

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

Lets enjoy the transfer window and hope for some excellent signings that can boost our team and help us progress. Maybe some of the magic of football and its transfer windows are to get carried away a little but lets just enjoy it and trust in what Big Sam and the two David’s do, they have not let us down yet!

COME ON YOU IRONS

Faouzi Ghoulam would be good young signing, he would add pace and depth to the full back position.
I would defiantly prefer Jack Butland over paul robinson, he is young and has potential to become England no1, but Paul Robinson has hit them heights and has never improved on the level h once was, jack butland is one for the future.
would like us to sign charlie austin he proves he can poke them in championship why not premier league, he would defiantly be cheapest out of the strikers mentioned, but i would still prefer to venture abroad for strikers, possibly in the french and Spanish league, their are always gems found in them leagues.

Liked this post till I got close to end wnen it became clear you have not got a clue . Tomkins has been at fault for at least 4 of the most recent goals conceded. He is slow of foot and mind and will not make the grade in this division. Noble is slow full stop …cant pass dosent score from open play but is a great pro. Nolan nearly past sell by date …that leaves Diame ..on way out …and Reid . Lets built a team around him but that means we need 10 players …..about right !!

me and my boy go to watch swindon fairly regulary so weve seen a lot of charlie austin and i tell u this he would score goals galore in the prem so sam put in a 7m bid a goal scoring midfielder would be a good addition as well and a steady left back but we need goals thats the priority

robinson, not in a pink fit. reliability has never been one of his strong point. Jussi could do better with one hand tied behind his back.

paul robinson? your having a laugh.
Jaaskelainen best keeper in the league by miles
