A ‘thank you’ to Gold and Sullivan

|

Another sell out at the academy of football on Monday night proves how lucky we are when you look at the state of football today.

In the wake of today’s ridiculous decision at Chelsea it makes you realise just how fortunate we are to have chairmen who care about the club as much as they do.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

This day and age being a chairman is like having a toy, when you get bored you throw it away and want something new. Today Roman Abramovich got bored and rashly sacked Roberto Di Matteo, who for what it’s worth I thought was doing a great job.

When the Icelandic’s went, a host of interested parties were going hammer and tong to acquire West Ham. The one I’m going to look is ‘Mr West Ham’ Tony Fernandez. Boy did we dodge a bullet there. He may throw money at QPR and bring in about fourteen new players every window, but like Abramovich he lacks the common sense you need to run a football club. Thankfully those in charge at the time of West Ham, for whatever reason they chose Messer’s Gold and Sullivan, for me that was the best thing that has ever happened to this club.

They bring football back to the people and with sensible ticket prices have managed four consecutive sell outs and with the home crowd behind the team the performances have rose to a new level. Their passion for the club twinned with their excellent business mind means they are the perfect match for this club.

They run a tight well organised ship and its stark contrast to the Icelandic era that we endured in the years before, where we brought in mediocre players on hefty wages. Now we get in quality players on contracts that suit their ability. Mohamed Diame on a free was a masterstroke from Allardyce and the board, and shows that the club are on the right track.

David Gold and David Sullivan have steadied a very rocky ship and we are now setting sail on a very exciting adventure and I could not be happier having them at the helm, give me passion and stability over bucket loads of money any day of the week ( mind you they aren’t skint!).

Great article and hopefully the first of many regarding them.

During their bidding process for the club I lost count of the supporters that claimed to know for a FACT that Fernandes was the man without a doubt for this club and they didn’t want the “David’s” anywhere near this club. I listened and came to the conclusion that most people backing Fernandes over the David’s didn’t have much of a clue and the reason why they seemed to be spouting what seemed like facts was because of Fernandes “Twit(tering)”.
I was pleased when the David’s took over because they were known and established supporters of the club as well as proven businessmen and had previously turned a club around. They have only made one mistake since being at the club with the appointment of Grant as far as I’m concerned but can be forgiven as NOBODDY could have forseen that with Grants track record he would have been such a disaster!

I also commend and hold Gold and Sullivan in high esteem for being brave and appointing Big Sam who many couldn’t believe could possibly have ANYTHING to do with West Ham let alone manage the club!
Well done for being brave and giving us the stability we craved and a manager that has changed this club from top to bottom in next to no time at all.

    Legend Status Awaits!

I agree with everything, we are very lucky to hve Mr Gold and Sullivan also when they got hold of Sam Allardyce.
I must be honest I was not at sure about Sam but now I am completely sold on him and I hope he stays for a long time to come.
I feel so sorry for Di Matteo losing his job at Chelsea but look at who they brought in his his place. He is not good enough to lace his boots.
It would be brilliant to really state our case by beating Chelsea.
    Am I dreaming?

I disagree with you this piece is built on the fact that they have had a bad season. Fernandes has transformed QPR, briatori (excuse spelling) on the other hand was a tosser. They will get it right eventually I for one am only sad he didn’t join the David’s.

  • D2 are the best Chairmen owners we could ever have hoped for, they have, and will continue to, raise the club to never before seen levels. I’ve followed the Hammers all my life – well at least as long as I can remember – I’m 53 now, so in the region of 48 years I guess. I’ve never been more optimistic than I am now. D2 – thank you for giving me, and all Hammers young & old, new hope.
