I have just finished watching the Stoke City game and I have to say the only aspect of the West Ham squad that worries me is the forwards and where the goals are going to come from. Don’t get me wrong I have full faith in Andy Carroll and I rate him highly and he has more to his game than most people give him credit for, but unfortunately there are not enough goals to his game. Carroll is just not an out and out goal getter!
So, where have our goals have come from??
- · Kevin Nolan – 5 goals
- · Mark Noble – 2 goals
- · James Tomkins, Matt Jarvis, Matty Taylor, Modibo Maiga, Mohamed Diame, Ricardo Vaz Te, Winston Reid, Joey O’Brien all on 1 goal

Now out of our 10 goal scorers 1 is a striker and therefore it is worrying that he is struggling to get into the first team squad and when he does its out of position. I am not suggesting dropping Andy Carroll because I think a lot of good comes with him on the pitch and he will get us some goals just maybe not enough!
Do we take a chance on Modibo Maiga (or Ricardo Vaz Te when he returns from injury) playing him off Carroll and running on to balls flicked on??
Personally I find this a hard one because if someone came in with a £3 million plus offer for Carlton Cole I would sadly let him go as the funds could be used to purchase a proven goal scorer. I have always liked the look of Darren Bent was struggling for games at Villa before he picked up an injury. This could prove too costly so maybe Charlie Austin from Burnley would be worth a closer look; he has been exceptional this season grabbing 16 goals this season so far.

There have been rumours linking us to the Ayew brothers from Marseille. These would be excellent signings if this is any more than a rumour. We have to be careful not to be held to ransom over attacking players having been linked to another striker in Nicolas Anelka. He would be a good signing but with his current wages at £250,000 a week I wouldn’t pay close to this figure. Although I feel he is a good player he has a reputation for being sulky and sullen. He has hinted he would take a pay cut but I doubt the wage that would be available for him would be anywhere near this amount.
Well after all that I have to say that although West Ham do not have a ‘prolific’ goal scorer we are playing fantastically well and long may it last. I just feel another striker to offer something new with Carroll is the way to go but many fans may have there own view where we can improve………

I wonder if the fact Rob Hall has linked up with Ravel Morrison at Brum is no coincidence. He’s been considered good enough to make the bench several times this season. Perhaps we may see both of them play in the new year.
That was what i thought when i came home from work to see Rob Hall had Signed on loan for Birmingham
New year probably not in the next year or two I’d hope so they are good mates apparently.
Strikers… Vaz te needs a chance when fit .. Remember he scores when he wants… Last season he was unplayable right foo, left head all dangerous.
He can make step sceptics may say he can’t make step but remember his scored more than carrol set up more and played less games plus his pushed out wide a lot.
I still think we need to buy a striker but I’d give vaz te a real chance his a goalscorer, hungry and at that prime age of now or never.
If we buy we should look for youth the next Shane long or someone with bags of pace. One thing we miss going forward is pace.
