Which signing will have the biggest impact?

|

I was ecstatic to hear that we had resigned our former centre back, James Collins. ‘Ginge’ is everything and more that we need for our next season in the Premier League. Strong, experienced, aerial presence and will add much needed competition to our current young centre backs in Winston Reid and James Tomkins. He is the current benchmark for our campaign in the Premier League next year. Though does the signing of James signal the biggest impact on the team for next year so far?

Mohamed Diame will most definitely have a impact on our season next year, The holding midfielder may have the impact that Scott Parker had on the team before he left. Diame, is the captain of the Senegalese Olympic team and has had a huge impact on that side, he has been breaking up plays and just keeping the tempo in the middle for Senegal. Then when the time is right, he has the ability to feed the ball into the final third of the pitch to get the movement of the attack going. The impact he will have will be influential, if he can play a role that Gary O’Neil successfully did towards the end of the season last year, we may have found a great balance to our team.

Modibo Maiga is a hard one to judge, what will he have in terms of an impact on our team next year, we are completely unaware of the role he will play next season. Will he be a back up striker to Carlton Cole or will he be the main Striker? Will he turn out to be the dazzling winger we need?

An important question to answer before we compare which of our goalkeepers will have the biggest impact is, which of our goalkeepers will be our number one next year. Personally I think that it will be Stephen Henderson, it is slightly worrying that we may be playing a keeper next year that was second choice in a team that was relegated. The benefit we will get from starting with Henderson will be that he is young and with game time at the top division he could flourish, like Szczesny. So Henderson’s impact on the team may be huge, depending on whether he is our first choice ‘keeper.

Or will George McCartney have the biggest impact of all of the summer signings? George, undoubtedly is a solid signing, he was a very decent player for us in his first spell in the Premier League with West Ham and in his second spell last year in the Championship he performed well for us. Now in his third spell at the club, will his impact prove to become the most influential of all the signings?

This will be a season that shows us whether George still has the quality to play Premier League football. I don’t think he will have such a huge impact on the team, though he will probably be a regular behind Matt Taylor.

I feel that the signing that will have the biggest impact next year will be Mohamed Diame because he will probably give us the dimension in balance that we need.

Bud, if we do not sign another solid CB, LB, RB, wide player and maybe a little more prolific striker then we will not be able to compete and will be a shoe in for relegation. Not enough decent business in the right areas has been done and the performance at Ipswich was truly abysmal
