What approach do the fans want in the transfer market?

|

Whilst we are all sat with baited breath on the ongoing, media induced, column inch friendly, Andy Carroll saga, a few thoughts have crossed my mind.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Publicising our current transfer shopping list on Twitter seems to divide fans opinions. Whereas a few seasons back we would be screaming from the rooftops for the club to give us an indication as to who we were tracking and where we are heading, the same fans seem to be concerned as to why we’re making our new targets public. This I can see positives and negatives for. Granted, to make the world aware of the ‘Biggest signing in the history of the club’ could indeed leave us with egg on our face if nothing comes off. It could seem like hot air and it could appear to be a scam to boost season ticket sales. However, on the flip side it also suggests that there is ambition in the club AND whilst we want to stay up, we are also in the top flight to compete.

Say what you like about Andy Carroll and others linked (and God knows I have!) but where our bids have been confirmed by the targets’ clubs, it will have teams outside the top six sitting up and taking notice.

Whatever the outcome to the pantomime that is the transfer window is, as loyal fans we should remember two things.

Firstly; Jussi Jaaskelainen, Mohamed Diame, Modibo Maiga and the returning James Collins (amongst others) are all new signings whom we should give our full support to from the first whistle.

Secondly, QPR and Fulham are both reportedly after Tottenham Hotspurs David Bentley, so hopefully we won’t be seeing him in the claret and blue again. And THAT is the best bit of transfer news I’ve heard this window!

These are my views, but I’m happy for opinions and feedback!

Forget Carroll we just got creamed 3-1 by Ipswich. If the board are hellbent on getting a striker, get Joselu or Konate and move on. We desperately need a CB, LB, RB or it’s straight back down for us. Our GK will do us no favours and getting rid of Green may well be one of the worst decisions ever made.

100% , WHY let greeno go, going back to prem we know we have to reshape the making of a good team you always starts at the back .its alright in going for world class players like tevez and kaka but likelyhood in securing them is low , go for player that are proven and going to put in a shift week in week out and have experience proberbly around the 25 to 27 year bracket, not young players that are going to make mistakes learning there trade nor players at the end of career who aint going to be there every week or are there just to pick up a wage .
Need to be realistic, at the moment we are a yoyo team we cant attract world class unless we pay silly money, we need quality and a united team , a team that will graft , heads wont drop when we are on the back foot.
We need to build slow and grow , first start with defence , then width , then up front .
We have good academy to blood youngsters , lets stop being a feeder club , a crowd behind the team win or lose, lets make boelyn a fortress again.
LETS HOPE THIS IS THE END TO THE BAD MANAGEMENT OF WEST HAM . COYI claret & blue through & through

We were woeful, scored with a lucky strike and never looked interested. Collins was half decent on his return, but without better players around him we will be in big, big trouble! A long hard season ahead and one that probably won’t be a joy to watch!

We were really bad today in need of few players and Carroll really isn’t worth 20 million and as much as I hate him Defoe would get us goals. I was so happy to see golds and sullavans bentlys in the car park knowing they watched us get well beat by an average team it won’t be long till the return of Harry

You don’t really believe what you’ve just written do you? I have never read such a poor article; if you think any team outside of the top 6 are going to do anything else other than laugh at our pathetic attempts to make some misguided statement of intent by trying to sign the likes of AC et al at the expense of getting a solid unit in place to ensure our place in the PL you are sadly mistaken. A statement of intent isn’t making an enquiry or offer it is getting a player of note to join, that is what other clubs will take notice of. We are incredibly short at the back, as highlighted again today by another loss to lesser opponents, and if not sorted within the next few weeks we will not survive and Sam won’t hang around to be made a fool of. It is a long way from winning the play-offs and the statement by the chairmen that they would back Sam to the hilt, targets were identified and business would be done early to give Sam the max amount of team preparation time to where we actually are; I pray they have some real irons in the fire near completion because we sure do need them.

Very very poor. Collins and cameo from Hall were only performances to give any positve feelings. Our clear inability to create chances is a huge concern. The few chances which came our way were not taken.

Other than fact Baldock is below 6ft and he regularly scores goals are there any other reasons we are selling him?!!
