ITK? No you’re not

|

I for one am amazed at how people’s opinions can change so dramatically. At the start of the summer, while on social networking site Twitter, I was having information thrown down my throat from many different sources being retweeted onto my timeline.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Every day a different name popped up and I could see people getting carried away.

Wilfried Zaha, what a great signing, he will do really well at West Ham”

Hope Elia and Castaignos pass their medicals at West Ham tomorrow!”

Paul Robinson will be an excellent number one for West Ham!”

The list goes on and on… Jordan Rhodes, Nathaniel Clyne, Chris Samba, Junior Hoilett, Matt Jarvis, Carlos Tevez, Milos Krasic, Jermain Defoe, Michael Owen, Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy, Robert Snodgrass, Peter Whittingham, Yakubu… I could literally sit here for hours just typing names of footballers.

I myself do not follow anyone claiming to be ‘ITK’ as that clearly means they aren’t. It is;of course; a matter of opinion, but I believe all of them are just exaggerated rumours and speculation rather than any sort of knowledge.

A chap with the same initials and first name as me has come under fire in the past few weeks after being found out to know absolutely nothing. He always knew absolutely nothing! Just when he started up, people believed him and so jumped on the bandwagon. Everyone is starting to see them for what they are, but only two weeks ago were hanging on their every word, the magic of Twitter.

The number of In The Know West Ham Twitter accounts has multiplied rapidly over the past few weeks just to get some attention and I feel it is hurting the club.

Even TalkSport journalists are falling for the rubbish being spouted, thus airing any rumours and putting the club in a needless spotlight.

David Gold, David Sullivan and Sam Allardyce are very capable of scouting and signing the right men for West Ham this summer. So here is a wacky idea, shall we let them get on with it?

What if one of the above names mentioned was a target for Big Sam? How is spreading that all over the internet going to help the club? Yes, the fans want to know what is going on, as do I, but harming any attempt to sign a player is justridiculous.

It was onlytwo months ago that every ‘ITK’ retweeted on my timeline (even non West Ham rubbish) was telling me that Ravel Morrison had been released. Oh, that young, exciting talent that has played twice in four days for the Hammers in preseason? How many of them brought us the Mohamed Diame deal a week before?

None.

Latching onto paper talk, written by real journalists who have contacts, is not being ITK!

This is a desperates hout out to everyone who is following, believing and worst of all spreading any ‘ITK’ rubbish to cut it out, they haven’t a clue who we are trying to sign, but could be damaging any interest we have.

Agree with you brad, ITK should stand for I Talk Krap, well it nearly work and is closer to the truth than In The Know. I think these lot also highten expectations of the sort of players we are going to sign. Will give you a follow.

Twitter is full of rumours you say? Well I never. You’ll be saying that the world is round next.

Twitter and Facebook are gossip sites, the equivalent of the tabloid newspapers. Everyone using those sites can be grouped together as atention seekers – everyone.
