You What Barry?

|

I must admit I was taken aback this week when Barry Hearn the chairman of Leyton Orient proposed that we should ground-share the Olympic Stadium.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

I was taken aback because ever since we announced our intention of taking over the Stratford site, Barry Hearn has been on a one-man mission to undermine our bid, take pot-shots as well as cheap shots at us and of course disrupt our bid in every conceivable way.

Now it looks like he’s losing the battle he wants to switch sides? You have got to be kidding me. I’ve listened to Mr Hearn on the radio coating off West Ham, I’ve watched Mr Hearn on the box ridiculing our bid and our ability to fill the Olympic Stadium, I’ve read articles in which Mr Hearn has rubbished thenvery idea of West Ham moving to Stratford…and now he wants to come along for the ride?

I’d like to venture my own opinion on the sudden change of heart of old Bazza Hearn…now we’re back in the Premier League; he’s suddenly taking us a lot more seriously, he probably harbored thoughts we’d rot in the Championship thus our support would dwindle and we’d give up on the notion of filling a 60k stadium. But with us back amongst the elite our bid suddenly has a bit more weight…there is only one real outcome for what’s to become of the Olympic Stadium after the games and that’s to lease it to a

Premier League football club.

As our bid gathers momentum it seems Barry Hearn our biggest adversary now wants to crowbar Leyton Orient into the deal. But could Mr Hearn please explain why on earth we would need Orient? West Ham United currently have over 260,000 fans on Facebook and almost 60,000 followers on Twitter; that’s a glimpse into our club’s fantastic fan-base…what on earth would Orient bring to the table?

I have a lot of time for Leyton Orient as I’m sure the majority of West Ham fans do; but thanks to the conduct of Barry Hearn over the past 18 or so months coupled with his subsequent back-tracking it all leaves a rather sour taste.

Gold and Sullivan should tell him where to go.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

I think S&G have already given their opinion on this matter although it was worded more politely than what my response would have been!

It’s probably a lot to do with the fact that Hearn has influence within the Football League, but not the PL. We have support for our bid from the PL but never sought it from the FL. Now we are back in the PL we are less likely to need the support of the FL (although I’m not 100% as we were in the FL when the new bid was submitted).

All explained with far more intelligence and understanding than I have here: http://bit.ly/KohD80

86% of our fans voted against going, I certainly do not want to lose our Stadium. In the long term like (The Dome) If it all goes belly up we are without a home. And who wants to watch Football through Binoculars. It was never meant to be a Football Stadium and it will not work Prices may be cheaper to to start with but that is just a sprat to catch a mackerel. We are all being sucked in. This is all about money always has been.

West Ham do not need Orient – like they dont need any other club – But would West Ham fans prefer it if Spurs got the place? No of course not because it is too close to Upton Park.
If West Ham or Spurs get the Stadium then Orient will likely go out of business. Barry Hearn has to stand up for the small club he runs otherwise they will not continue to exist.
Most orient fans follow West Ham and vice versa BUT if West Ham move to Stratford – less than a mile from Leyton orients ground and one stop on the train AND west ham will have to slash prices to fill the place then who would go to Orient for £20 a game when they can go to watch a prem game for less??
Orient fans will continue but there will be no NEW fans……….

    So to summarise
Kwame Boakye go f**k yourself! 🙂
