SIX talents to break into the first team next season

|

After going on no less than five loan spells last season, including linking up with former West Ham favourite Paolo Di Canio at Swindon, Montano may finally have his chance to make an impact upon the first team in the Premier League. After impressive goal scoring forays at Dagenham & Redbridge and Notts County in particular, the quick footed Colombian could now feature in Sam Allardyce’s side.

2. Danny Potts

Son of club legend Steve, Danny shone in his handful of appearances over Christmas. Still only 18, he has the possibility of a big Hammers future if he can make the left back position his own in the coming years. His battle against leukaemia has been well documented and his triumph is a testament to his determination and willingness to play football at the highest level. The current young Hammer of the year looks set to shine for West Ham.

3. Blair Turgott

Numerous eye catching displays for both the academy and development squads mean that this technically gifted 18 year old winger may have a small say in first team developments next season. After making thirty appearances in all competitions for the academy side, and scoring ten goals in the process, Turgott is likely to have feature heavily in the development squad and will be looking to make an impression on Big Sam.

4. Rob Hall

Nine goals for the development squad saw Rob Hall make three first team appearances last season, albeit from the bench. Hall is held in very high regard by co-chairman David Gold as well as academy director Tony Carr. He got the chance at first team football by being loaned out to Oxford United, where he scored six goals in his first eight games for the U’s. He is eager to impress and aiming to carry on his form into the next campaign.

5. Elliot Lee

Lee shone for the academy side by scoring twenty goals in all competitions as the team finished fifth in the under eighteen league. The son of former one time Hammer Rob Lee, he is very different from his father who was a strong central midfielder as Elliot is an out and out front man. A natural goals corer, Lee scored numerous hat tricks and may have the opportunity to make the first team substitutes bench at some point over the next year

6. (And finally) Ravel Morrison

While not an academy product, Morrison may pull his finger out this time to show the West Ham faithful why he is so greatly talked about (besides getting fined for tweeting).
