Who would prove the more beneficial signing?

|

Looking at the final bits of the transfer window, West Ham has brought in a few players, most notably George John on loan from FC Dallas of the MLS.  John looks to be a very promising defender with loads of pace and an innate ability to time his tackles.  While a defender was a must have in the transfer market, it would still be ideal to bring in a few more new players.

One debate that has come up recently has been who to sign between Watford’s Marvin Sordell and QPR’s Jamie Mackie.  Mackie, the folk hero from Scotland who over several years has risen from the ranks of non-league football to the Premier League, is a 26 year old midfielder with an eye for goal.  Sordell is a promising forward for Watford with 8 goals and 3 assists in 22 starts for the club this term.  Aged just 20, he has shown enormous potential at the international stage, including a real cracker against the Israel U-21s ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7lQjfBEMYw ). So who should West Ham try to grab?

Personally, it’s not a tough decision to me.  We definitely need a striker, and I feel our midfield situation is fairly settled (though this may change once Lansbury departs).  Sordell would be a buy for the future, and would be offered room to grow as a player.  He has already proven his worth at this level, as he has scored as many goals as our own Carlton Cole.  He looks to have a good amount of pace and possesses a great first touch.  He isn’t a target man at 5’10”, but looks to play very well both in the hole and roaming the opponent’s box.  To me, he is just the right player we need as we have really struggling finding the back of the net recently.

Now, I don’t want to take anything away from Jamie Mackie.  His rise to the Premier League has been sensational, and he looks to have made the big step up in class.  I hope the best for his career and look forward to seeing him play, but I don’t think he’s the player we need at this moment.  Sordell looks like he can really be a longtime Hammer, one that will score over ten goals a season for a long time.  I’d love to see him in claret and blue, scoring goals for us for years. Lord knows we need it.

We need prolific strikers but one must remember, a good teamwork also help to create chances in the final third.
SouthHampton has a very fluid team where each one of the players know when or where to exploit their fortes..
Personally, I think Hammers are doing okay since most of the players are new signings of the season and to gel as a team need time.
SouthHampton had that needed time of more than 2 years.
Give Baldock more first team play to improve his adaptability in the field and TEAMWORK..NEED A GOOD FLUID TEAMPLAY.

  • Its such as you learn my thoughts! You appear to know a lot approximately this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I believe that you simply could do with a few p.c. to power the message house a bit, but instead of that, that is wonderful blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.
