West Ham to scout Muriqi

West Ham United are set to send representatives to scout Fenerbahce forward Vedat Muriqi against Galatasaray, according to Aksam.

The Turkish outlet claim that the Hammers will track the progress of the striker after he has become one of the most popular names in the European transfer market.

Aksam report that West Ham have been joined by Manchester United, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Juventus in the hunt for the 25-year-old.

Muriqi shined in the recent international break for Kosovo, scoring twice – one of those coming against England as he fired home a penalty in the 5-3 defeat at St Mary’s.

Manuel Pellegrini could be considering attacking reinforcements as he doesn’t believe he has enough strength in depth in the final third. Albian Ajeti is his only back-up to club-record signing Sebastien Haller, and his performance against Oxford could more than prove that he isn’t fully ready to have the pressure of leading the line in the Premier League. A big physical forward such as Muriqi could come in and take the enormous amount of pressure off the shoulders of the two current options for the Hammers. The 6’4″ giant [Transfermarkt] has enjoyed a good start to the season in Turkey, scoring three goals and adding a single assist in five appearances for Fenerbahce. Muriqi has averaged 4.6 shots on goal as well as winning 4.2 aerial battles per game according to WhoScored, as he offers a constant threat in and around the 18-yard box for opposing teams. A third striker would give Pellegrini great strength in depth, and Muriqi would certainly ask questions of any defender in the Premier League given his ability to create numerous chances for himself in each game.
