All West Ham fans surely fuming over Paul Merson’s suggestion that their team appear to be already on the beach as he is spot-on to do so.

The Sky Sports pundit shared his current view on the Hammers while predicting their clash with Chelsea and revealed he thought that Manuel Pellegrini’s side were already mentally on the beach as they had nothing really left to play for.

“Nothing but a Chelsea win here,” wrote Merson in his predictions for Sky Sports.

“West Ham are on the beach a bit as they are safe and going nowhere.

“They were very fortunate against Huddersfield when they won 4-3, that papered over the cracks, and then they got found out against Everton and if it wasn’t for Fabianski it could have been any score.”

Would any Hammers fan really argue that several members of their team have thrown in the towel as of late? Surely not.

The Hammers been in terrible form as of late and several don’t look like they’re going the extra mile to ensure their side are victorious.

Pellegrini’s team are playing without any sense of urgency during matches, have been careless in possession lately and seem to already have checked out of this season.

While Merson implies that West Ham’s team are playing this way due to have nothing left to achieve as they’re safe from relegation, Hammers supporters won’t surely feel that way.

The Hammers should be striving to finish as high as possible in the Premier League table in order to have a good foundation to build on for next season, and the fact they can finish seventh should be enough motivation for them.

However based on their recent displays, Hammers fans should be fuming upon reading Merson’s remarks as they won’t be able to deny his suggestion unless their side drastically up their game against Chelsea.
