Some West Ham fans on social media slammed defender Arthur Masuaku during the 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.

The 24-year-old left-back had a section of fans criticising him for his latest display with one even uniquely describing him as a ‘flying chicken aeroplane’ when responding to the idea of bringing Aaron Cresswell to replace him.

Masuaku ended up staying on the pitch despite this section of Hammers fans being unimpressed and helped his side earn a point against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium.

COMMENTARY

It’s hard to know what the fan who described Masuaku as a flying chicken aeroplane meant, though it’s clearly meant to be an insult. Given that the phrase headless chicken is quite popular than perhaps that is what they were thinking of that when they were tweeting to pan the left-back’s display on Saturday. Despite there being a number of fans left unhappy with the defender, one supporter even tweeted twice to highlight the player’s mistakes, Masuaku had a good game by all accounts. The left-back improved as the match went on and put in a good defensive shift to help his side get a draw with the Foxes despite Mark Noble getting himself sent off in the 38th minute. While Masuaku normally is a liability at the back, it seems these fans may have been particularly harsh during his latest performance. The 24-year-old due to his recent form is known to make a mistake or two but overall on Saturday, he showed off the fact he could be a reliable defender when it matters.
