Many West Ham supporters on social media heaped praise on defender Issa Diop for his performance during the 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.

The Hammers drew 1-1 with the Foxes in their latest Premier League outing, despite playing the game with 10-men since the 38th minute, and fans opted to praise Diop for his efforts.

One labelled the 21-year-old centre-back world class, alongside Declan Rice and Lukasz Fabianski, while another tweeted that Diop was their Man of the Match by some mile.

COMMENTARY

Diop is an absolutely monster as one fan tweeted and deserves all the praise coming his way. Mark Noble got himself foolishly sent off during the Hammers’ latest outing and made it difficult for his side to get anything from Saturday’s game. However the Hammers went very close to getting all three points and would have been frustrated to have only got one from their outing with Leicester. One of the reasons why the Hammers nearly held onto their narrow 1-0 lead despite their disadvantage was the performance of Diop. It’s no surprise that a large section of Hammers supporters are drooling over the centre-back as he has been very good in the majority of his outings this season and managed to look perhaps even better against the Foxes. Hopefully Diop is able to continue this sublime run of form as with in the heart of the Hammers’ defence, then clean sheets will surely be delivered which will allow the Hammers to get wins on the board.
