When clubs invest their money into signing young players, it can often be perceived as a risk if little is known about them.

Instead, huge investments are made in players that are well-known to the majority and who are known to be relied upon for their talent.

West Ham should buck the trend and make one of their many signings this summer Ismaila Sarr, a winger from Ligue 1 side Rennes.

The Sun has reported that a host of top-six clubs – including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal – are keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old, who recently starred for Senegal in this summer’s World Cup.

Rennes are holding out for £50 million for their young starlet, but that price tag could significantly reduce given how young Sarr is.

None of the top-six clubs that are interested would be prepared to pay that type of money for a player that is not yet well-known on the European stage.

However, should that valuation get reduced, then the Hammers must strongly consider making a vital investment in the jet-heeled 6″1 (source: Transfermarkt) flyer, who has netted ten goals in his current stint in the French top-flight.

The pacey winger has good technique on the ball for someone so young, and his control in the final third would prove to be majorly significant in increasing West Ham’s goal tally.

He is an exciting prospect, and is only going to improve with age, and he should be considered by boss Manuel Pellegrini as a star for the future if he does not see him in the senior squad just yet.

The Irons have surprised everybody by their transfer activity so far this summer, and it would not hurt to do that once again if they swooped to make this vital investment.
