West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has already improved his defensive options this summer with three new signings, but needs to put the foot down with more additions to help the backline.

The Hammers had the joint-worse defensive record in the Premier League last season and a result goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, right-back Ryan Fredericks and centre-back Issa Diop have all been signed by the new manager.

One area that the London club still need to improve is at left-back, where Aaron Cresswell has become more accustomed to a central role and Arthur Masuaku is much better going forward than backwards.

West Ham would continue making a huge signal of intent this summer if they tried to bring in Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney to fill the position.

The Mirror reports that Everton are weighing up a move for the 21-year-old at Scottish giants Celtic and could test their resolve with a bid.

It is understood that Manchester United and Tottenham have also held an interest in the in-demand left-back.

However, West Ham should plot to hijack interest in the Scotland international and go all out to bring him to the London Stadium next season.

Tierney has been transformed into a brilliant defender under Brendan Rodgers in the last couple of years and has the potential to grow even further into one of the best full-backs in Europe if mentored properly.

The Scotsman offers a great defensive comfort and is difficult to beat in one-on-one scenarios, while the left-footed ace also offers a threat going forward.

He was directly involved in 15 goals during his 55 appearances for Celtic last season and looks more than good enough to rip up the Premier League.
