West Ham have received no approaches for their midfielder Pedro Obiang, according to club insiders.

Claret and Hugh claims that club insiders have told them that nobody has made a move to sign the 26-year-old this summer and that manager Manuel Pellegrini is still yet to decide which members of his squad he wants to keep.

Football Insider previously reported that Fiorentina were preparing a second bid to sign the Spanish central midfielder after an initial offer was rejected, but it seems like that could be off the mark.

OPINION

Obaing has been heavily linked with a London Stadium exit this summer, but it seems like all speculation for now is wrong if the club’s insiders are to be believed. Manager Manuel Pellegrini needs to try oversee a handful of changes in the side this summer, but Obiang is a player that deserves to remain in the first team after some encouraging displays. He is a powerhouse that is perfectly suited to the Premier League and can help turn defence into attack quickly. The Hammers currently have a number of options to play as a central midfielder, but when he is fully fit he may be the best of the bunch right now. Obiang should soon be entering the prime years of his career and West Ham must avoid selling him on at all costs. He managed just 29 appearances during an injury-hit season in the last campaign, but he ticks a lot of boxes in terms of being an energetic midfielder that can be a machine on his day.
