West Ham are looking to bolster their forward ranks in January but will face competition in the market for one target.

Italian outletĀ TuttosportĀ claim Inter Milan have also been scouting West Ham target Simone Verdi ahead of the January transfer window, believing that the 25-year-old striker could help boost their push for the Serie A title.

Verdi has fired four goals in 14 league appearances for Bologna this season and interest in the Italian striker has risen significantly as a result, making it difficult for the Hammers to secure a deal.

West Ham have struggled for consistency in front of goal this season and currently have first-choice striker Javier Hernandez on the sidelines due to injury, scoring just one goal in his absence.

The Hammers are yet to win under David Moyes and face a testing run of fixtures in the weeks ahead, as they clash with Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
