West Ham are gearing up for their first match under the guidance of David Moyes and the Scottish boss has expressed a big concern regarding his relegation threatened side.

The Hammers conceded four goals in a defeat to Liverpool before the international break, slipping into the bottom three after Everton’s win against Watford, and that raises the pressure ahead of West Ham’s own clash with the Hornets this weekend.

Moyes has been brought in with the aim of steadying the ship this season and he’s already admitted he has areas where he needs to improve considerably, as he’s quoted by Sky Sports as stating he’d be ‘stupid’ not to sort out the defence.

“We would be stupid if we didn’t look back. We’ve looked at the goals we’ve conceded and we have got the worst defensive record in the league. We’ve got to try and find a way of stopping that.”

“Ultimately, they’ve got to be a bit more humble for each other, work for the team, and score goals together and defend together. We must start from scratch and give the players a chance to start again.”

Conceding 23 goals in just 11 matches, West Ham’s defensive record is the worst in the league and Moyes faces a selection headache this weekend with Jose Fonte likely to be unavailable and Winston Reid not returning from international duty in time.
