David Moyes faces a selection nightmare ahead of his first match in charge of West Ham against Watford, with the Hammers facing a number of notable absentees.

The East London side have been rocked by the news that Javier Hernandez will be unavailable after sustaining an injury on duty with Mexico last week, whilst youngster Nathan Holland is also sidelined for a number of months after surgery.

Sam Byram is not expected to return until December and Michail Antonio is also set to miss out once again as he recovers from a cracked rib. However, Moyes’ biggest concerns are likely to be defensively.

James Collins is available but Jose Fonte isn’t expected to recover whilst Winston Reid, who plays a crucial World Cup play-off with New Zealand against Peru in the early hours of tomorrow morning, won’t return in time for the weekend’s clash.

As such, Moyes won’t have a first-choice defence to select from and that’s a big concern, as he’s admitted that the defensive problems need to be solved if the Hammers are to push themselves away from the looming threat of relegation.
