West Ham made a big change over the recent international break as a decision was made to relieve Slaven Bilic of his position and bring in former Sunderland boss David Moyes as his replacement, with an initial contract lasting until the end of the season.

The Scottish boss couldn’t oversee an instant improvement of the Hammers side though as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against Watford at Vicarage Road, meaning they remain in the relegation zone, and fans are certainly still waiting to be impressed.

Moyes’ appointment certainly resulted in a lot of discussions about whether he’s truly capable to push the Hammers forwards and fans have been quite critical of the appointment, with many naming alternatives they would have preferred to have seen- some even calling for a former boss to return to the club.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ coverage of yesterday’s defeat, former Hammers boss Alan Pardew revealed he would have taken the opportunity to return to the club if offered the position, stating he believed he could have overseen improvements.

“Yeah I would have taken it. Yeah. It was a job where you know you could tell it was a good board and good players and in a position where they are under performing and as a manager that really helps when you go in because you can then make an instant impact.”

“I think David has got a good job here and I think he will do well.”

Pardew spent three successful years at West Ham a decade ago, leading the Hammers back into the Premier League in 2005 and into an FA Cup final in 2006- where only Steven Gerrard could prevent a historic victory over Liverpool.
