You’ll have to be up either very late, or very early, depending on your sleeping pattern to catch the draw for the Carabao Cup third round.

The draw for the former League Cup is being held in Beijing at 11.15am local time meaning it fans in England will have to wait until 4.15am, where  they can then follow the unveiling of the fixtures on Twitter.

The seven Premier League club’s participating in European football are set to enter the stage at this competition, and will be drawn against the winners of this week’s second round ties.

The remaining 13 top flight clubs will play their round two games on Tuesday and Wednesday, with holders Manchester United and West Ham both involved. The Hammers take on Cheltenham Town on Wednesday evening at Whaddon Road.

The Carabao Cup draw has been dogged by problems over its opening two rounds but a desire to keep the latest instalment from public view is not behind the decision to hold it at an unwatchable hour.

During the draw for the first round, Charlton Athletic were shown to be playing twice while other teams were shown the wrong fixtures in the on-screen graphics.

Issues also arose in the second round draw when a number of Championship clubs felt it was made unclear whether they were playing at home or away.
