West Ham United stalwart Mark Noble has stated that his side can take some positives out of their 4-2 weekend defeat to Watford and that he is optimistic that the club is heading in the right direction.

The Hammers were 2-0 up against the Hornets on Saturday but some haphazard defending saw the hosts relinquish their lead and concede four unanswered goals at the hands of Walter Mazzarri’s men.

This meant it is three defeats from the club’s opening four Premier League games this season, in a poor return given there being such a buzz around the club over the summer.

Despite the lacklustre second-half showing that his side put in against Watford, Noble has stated that there were good things about the early stages of the game.

The all-action midfielder hailed the nature of his side’s first-half showing and feels that this should be what West Ham focus on.

“That is the best we have played for a long while, in the first half,” Noble told the club’s official website.

“A couple of mistakes have cost us and we couldn’t recover,” he told the club’s official website. If we can go in 2-0 up at half-time it is a different game, but the mistakes have cost us in the end.

“There is a long way to go and we have to stay positive.”
