The agent of West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang has revealed that despite media reports there are no negotiations over a potential switch to Roma currently.

The Spanish midfielder moved to the London club from Sampdoria last summer in a deal that had Hammers fans excited.

However, Obiang has failed to live up to the consideration reputation that he forged through impressive performances in Serie A.

The Spaniard found the likes of Mark Noble and Chiekhou Kouyate in front of him in Slaven Bilic’s preferences and as such spent most of his time in 2015-16 on the sidelines.

With the summer arrivals of Havard Nordtveit and Edimilson Fernandes, Obiang looks destined to leave the London club before the transfer window closes late on Wednesday.

However, the midfielder’s agent has stated that speculation that his client could be moving to Roma was unfounded at this point.

“At the moment there is nothing with Roma and I have not had contact with the Giallorossi executives,” Jose Maria Gonzalez told La Roma 24.

“Obviously in football things can change in a minute, but I repeat that I know nothing about these market rumours in the Italian press concerning Obiang.”
