Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that the French club received a €50million (£43million) offer from West Ham for Alexandre Lacazette earlier this summer but opted to reject the proposal.
As reported below by respected Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, the Hammers were ready to blow their club-record transfer fee out of the water to land the France international hotshot.

Lacazette has been a man in demand this summer, with a host of major sides linked with a move for the home-grown star.
However, West Ham’s reported offer is the highest recorded in the press – but was still spurned by the Ligue 1 side.
Slaven Bilic has three new attackers in his squad after a busy summer in the transfer market, with Andre Ayew, Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza all signing on the dotted line.
Lacazette would have been a superstar arrival at the east London club but such a high fee seems excessive for the striker.
