West Ham United are believed to be weighing up a move for France international forward Andre-Pierre Gignac, according to Mexican media outlet Esto.

The Hammers have added Jonathan Calleri to their ranks but efforts to land a number of other strikers have run ashore.

Gignac made the controversial choice to leave Marseille last summer and sign for Mexican club Tigres, where he has been in scintillating form in front of goal.

The burly centre-forward was included in France’s Euro 2016 squad as a back-up to Olivier Giroud and looks like he still has what it takes to play at a high level in European football.

Gignac is a former team-mate of both Andre Ayew and Dimitri Payet, with the trident featuring together at Marseille in the past.

A question would be asked over Andy Carroll’s role at the club if the Frenchman was signed given their similar style of play.
