Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is the market for a new defender before the transfer window closes and could swoop for West Ham United’s Angelo Ogbonna, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian trainer has been open about his desire to land a new centre-half before it is too late and the 2014-15 champions have been linked with a host of new defenders as a result.

Conte knows Ogbonna well from their mutual time together at Juventus and with the Italy national team, with the Blues coach picking the Hammers star in his squad for Euro 2016.

The report suggests that Chelsea are also toying with the idea of bringing David Luiz back to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain, but that Ogbonna is an option also.

The Italy international signed for the Hammers last summer and had an impressive first season in English football, striking up a formidable understanding at the back with Winston Reid.
