West Ham United have high-flying Spanish outfit Villarreal for competition in the race to sign Nice wonder kid Alassane Plea this summer, according to L’Equipe.

The Hammers have been linked with a host of attacking players from Ligue 1, with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi the most high-profile.

However, Slaven Bilic’s men are also believed to be keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old, who starred for the Allianz Riviera outfit’s ascent to fourth place in 2015-16.

The versatile forward is being tipped to have a bright future in the game, with Plea versatile enough to play anywhere along his team’s forward line.

The starlet reportedly has a €40 million release clause written into his contract, but Nice are expected to accept an offer significantly lower than this if it arrives over the off-season.

Villarreal have qualified for next season’s Champions League and are also in the market for attacking players.
