West Ham United are set to make a double swoop on Newcastle pair Andros Townsend and Georginio Wijnaldum this summer, according to Squawka.

The Hammers are active in their recruitment drive already and are expected to bring a host of new faces to complement Slaven Bilic’s squad this summer before a move to the Olympic Stadium.

Newcastle lost their fight against relegation and ahead of their demotion to the Championship are expecting a mass exodus of players from St James’ Park.

Townsend only moved to Tyneside from Tottenham in January but is said to have an £8 million release clause written into his contract with the Magpies.

Wijnaldum has been cagey about his future following Newcastle losing their battle to avoid the drop and is widely expected to move to a fellow Premier League club in the summer.

The pair have occupied wide areas for the North East club this season and been rare bright sparks in an otherwise poor campaign for the Tyneside team.
