West Ham United youth product Elliot Lee has confirmed on Twitter that he is set to leave his boyhood club this summer and pledged to make the London side regret their decision to let him go.

The 21-year-old Durham-born striker has been on the Hammers’ books since he was a child, with the attacker maturing into first-team football with the Boleyn Ground outfit.

However, a chance to play for Slaven Bilic’s men has not been forthcoming and as such Lee has been farmed out on loan to a host of Football League side.

The promising forward has spent time with Colchester United, Southend United, Luton Town and Blackpool in recent years.

With Lee’s contract expiring this summer and West Ham keen to purchase a high-profile new number nine to spearhead the club’s evolution to the Olympic Stadium, the forward will be allowed to leave as a free agent.

He took to Twitter to confirm the news and delivered a message to those at West Ham that had both helped and hindered him in his development.
