West Ham United are said to have made a club-record €40 million (£31.5 million) bid for key striker target Michy Batshuayi, according to The Guardian.

The Belgium international is hot property in the transfer market, with a host of leading English and European teams said to be monitoring the attacker’s situation.

Batshuayi has captured the imagination since moving to the Stade Velodrome from Standard Liege in 2014, scoring at will this season for the south coast club.

Tottenham and Liverpool are also being linked with the powerhouse forward, but West Ham are believed to have made the first move for him.

Batshuayi recently commented that he was happy at Marseille and wanted to stay with the Ligue 1 club, but the fact that the French side are cash-strapped could mean they cash in on their prize asset.

The striker is set to feature for Belgium at Euro 2016 this summer, which could push his value up further.
