Marseille coach Franck Passi has given West Ham fans hope that their team can land Michy Batshuayi this summer by admitting that the star striker is increasingly likely to leave the French club this summer.

The Hammers are in the market for a number nine of note and have been linked with the Belgium international in recent months.

Some media sources stipulate that Slaven Bilic’s men have already placed a bid for the former Standard Liege attacker, who has lit up Ligue 1 over the last 18 months in particular.

West Ham are believed to have the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal as competition for the striker’s hand – but at least they now know that Marseille are not in a position to dig their heels in over losing Batshuayi.

Passi has admitted that the Stade Velodrome outfit are not in a position to reject big offers for their prize asset and predicted that the Belgian will be on his way once the transfer window opens.

“I think everyone knows that he will leave,” Eurosport quote the coach as saying.

“For now our finances are not flourishing and we must accept it. There are clubs in Europe who are affluent enough to keep their best players, but for us, that is not the case.”
