Liverpool forward Christian Benteke has stated that he does not want to leave the Merseyside club to join West Ham or any of the other teams he has been linked with.

The giant Belgian forward left Aston Villa last summer and moved to Anfield in a bumper £32.5 million deal but has struggled to replicate his best form in the Reds’ colours.

The arrival of Jurgen Klopp has also made Benteke’s position at Liverpool less secure, with rumblings that the gifted attacker could well be heading towards an exit this summer.

Despite the incessant transfer talk, the Congo-born star has opened up on his campaign and stated that he does not want to depart Liverpool after only 12 months.

“When I signed I didn’t sign for one year. I want to stay here next year,” The Express quote Benteke as saying.

“I think I have the quality and the manager knows my strengths and weaknesses – I’ve no doubt [he can make me better].

“I know I’ve had a tough season but I’m going to fight until the end. I try to do my best when the manager needs me.”

West Ham have been linked with a host of strikers over recent months already, with Benteke believed to be one of the favourites to join Slaven Bilic’s men in a big-money move this summer.
