West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Havard Nordtveit and will announce his signature in the near future, according to The Daily Mail.

The Hammers are said to have beaten Borussia Dortmund, Schalke and Atletico Madrid to the Norway international’s signature, while his current employers were also said to be keen to keep him in the Bundesliga.

Nordtveit is a free agent in the summer and as such the Scandinavian has signed a pre-contract agreement with Slaven Bilic’s men and will move to the London club for free.

The versatile 25-year-old is a holding midfielder but has also featured for Monchengladbach in defence at times when required.

He was also on Arsenal’s books for a number of years in his early career but did not make a Premier League appearance for the Gunners – as such he may well have unfinished business and a point to prove in England.
