West Ham United loanee Alex Song has no future at parent club Barcelona and will spend another campaign away from the Camp Nou before leaving permanently on a free transfer, according to Fichajes.

The Cameroon international was brought to the Catalan giants from Arsenal but failed to make an impression with the La Liga giants.

As a result, Song has spent the last two season on a loan deal with the Hammers – with mixed results.

In the 2014-15 campaign the African pass-master was an essential member of Sam Allardyce’s side and looked like a driving force for the London club.

However, injuries and the form of others have blighted Song’s chances of playing regularly this season and it is widely believed that West Ham will not look to keep the midfielder or take him on a third temporary switch.

Linked with Crystal Palace, Song looks set to leave Barcelona for the last time this summer and could be a bargain purchase for one of West Ham’s Premier League rivals.
