West Ham are running the rule over Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi and are likely to make a move for him in the summer, according to African Football.

The 25-year-old has been a scoring sensation since swapping FC Copenhagen for Major League Soccer and netted 18 times for Portland last season.

He has also begun the new campaign in commanding form, scoring six times, and is viewed as one of the most dangerous centre forwards in the MLS.

West Ham are expected to bolster their attacking options with a couple of new strikers this summer, with the Nigerian forward a potential cut-price option.

Adi has been called up for his country’s senior side in the past but is yet to make his full debut for Nigeria.

With question marks over the futures of Diafra Sakho and Emmanuel Emenike, another African forward could well be on his way to the London club as a replacement.
